  • Why us

Our expertise and our technical services enabled us to lift using high-capacity equipment in confined spaces.

A technical challenge

Guay Inc.’s services were called upon for this significant project at Cimenterie McInnis located at Port-Daniel-Gascons, Québec. Our job was to determine the best lifting method and to install this equipment, to design the lifting sequences and plan by using optimal cranes and accessories for our client. The technical challenge was to use high-capacity equipment in a confined area, while respecting the ground’s load-bearing capacity. We also had to use customized rigging to lift these imposing parts.

We selected a 440-ton Manitowoc 16000 conventional crawler crane with the MAX-ER option as the primary crane for the work. This option helps to increase our crane’s capacity, so we were able to use an existing crane on the site and avoided using a 700-ton crane because of this Manitowoc unit, which resulted in significant savings for our client. We had to lift a 618,000-lb. piece of kiln assembly within a 30-foot working radius. The second support crane was a 300-ton Manitowoc 2500 conventional crane. The “International cranes and specialized transport” magasine published an article about the project in september 2016. Thanks to our technical department and our experienced site supervision team, this project was a success.
